It was cool, fine and windy for the NLTTA Combined Clubs 25 mile Time Trial on Sunday September 23rd on the L2528 2-lap Barton-Bellflower-Wilson House-St Michaels-Churchtown course. 22/09/18  Leo/VTTA (East Anglia) ’30’

Despite 10ºC temperature, light rain for the early miles and wet roads at the turn it was a very fast day for the Leo/VTTA (East Anglia) 30 mile Time Trial on Saturday September 22nd on the E2/30C Fulbourne-Red Lodge course on the A11 and A14 roads in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk. Both Steve Irwin and Dave Hargreaves set new VTTA national age records and personal best times and Steve won the fastest age 45-49 prize. There was a moderate breeze blowing up the longer outward leg to the turn for the Port Talbot Wheelers 25 mile Time Trial on Sunday September 9th on the R25/3H Hirwaun-Aberdulais-Glyn-neath course. Steve Irwin recorded 49:33 in the Team Velovelocity 25 mile Time Trial on Saturday September 8th on the E2/25Newmarket-Four Went Ways course on the A11, A14 in Cambridgeshire/Suffolk. Matt Smith of Team Bottrill/Vanguard won with 46:52.

Mervyn Wilson recorded 22:43 (+5:49) in the VTTA (East Anglia) 10 mile Time Trial on Saturday Sepember 1st on the E2/10 Six mile bottom-Four Went Ways course on the A11 neat Newmarket. James Rix of Team Bottrill/Vanguard was fastest with 18:39 and Peter Horsnell of Chelmer CC was Best on Standard with 27:07 (+8:28).

It was hot with a NW breeze for the Burton & District CA 100 mile Time Trial on Saturday September 1st on (a new course due to road works) the A100/2 based on nearly 6 laps of the A516 and A50 near Etwall. 25/08/18  VTTA (London & Home Counties) ’15’ VTTA Championship

Mervyn Wilson recorded 36:29 (+6:36) in the VTTA (London & Home Counties) 15 mile Time Trial (the 2018 VTTA Championship) on Saturday August 25th on the H15/1 Aldermaston-Kennet Park-Pangbourne-Aldermaston course on the A4. Ron Hallam of South Pennine RC was Best on Standard with 42:01 (+10:55) and Stuart Travis of Team Bottrill/Vanguard was fastest with 29:00.

19/08/18  West Cheshire TTCA ’12 Hour’

Aidan Holgate recorded 253.02 miles in his first 12 hour event in the West Cheshire TTCA 12 Hour Time Trial on Sunday August 19th on the D12/1 course in Shropshire. Andy Jackson of Aerocoach won with 284.58 miles.

Aidan Holgate again retained the Club Hill Climb Championship on a wet evening of August 15th at Close Brow, Rishton. Sadly no women competed for their trophy.

There was a light SSE wind for the Rhos on Sea CC 10 mile Time Trial on Sunday August 12th on the D10/15 St Asaph-Abergele course on the A55 in North Wales. Dave Hargreaves was 2nd fastest Veteran on standard but won 1st prize through the one-rider-one-prize rule and Jan Scotchford was 3rd woman. There was a heavy downpour accompanied by a drop in the wind prior to the start of the Pendle Forest CC 10 mile Time Trial on Saturday July 28th on the L1015 Levens course. Dave Hargreaves was 1st V70+, Steve Irrwin was 2nd V40, Mervyn Wilson was 2nd V60 and Emily Warner set a new personal best time and was Lantern Rouge in an event that received 200 entries. Dave Hargreaves was 2nd on Target Time with 40:15 (+3:40) in the Border City Wheelers Circuit of Greystoke Forest 14 mile Time Trial (round 5 of the Knight Composites Classic series) on Sunday May 27th on the L143 course encircling Greystoke Forest from the village of Greystoke in Cumbria. Douglas Watson of GTR-Return to Life was fastest veteran with 40:33.

12/05/18  South Pennine RC ’25’ New Club women’s record

 Steve Irwin finished 3rd with 49:09 in the South Pennine RC (men) 25 mile Time Trial on Saturday May 12th on a modified version of the A25/11 A50 based course starting near Etwall. Stuart Travis of Tean Bottrill/Vanguard won in 47:19.

Sue Cheetham recorded a new personal best time and Club record of 59:27 in the women’s event. Liz Powell of DRAG2ZERO won with 53:04.
