10/10/17 Huddersfield RC Hill Climb

Jeremy Samuels recorded 4:47.8 in the Huddersfield RC Hill Climb on Sunday October 22nd on the V999 Ripponden Bank in West Yorkshire. Andy Cunningham of All Terrain Cycles was fastest in 3:17.5.

16/10/17  North Lancs RC Nick o’ Pendle Hill Climb

It was fine, mild with dry roads and a tail wind up the climb for the North Lancs RC open Hill Climb on Sunday October 15th on the L806 Sabden-Nick o’ Pendle summit course. Andy Cunningham of All Terrain Cycles was fastest in 3:47.0. NLRC times….

10/10/17 Lancashire RC Hill Climb

Jeremy Samuels recorded 3:39.7 in the Lancashire RC Hill Climb on Sunday October 10th on the L812 Rake course in Ramsbottom. Joe Clark of Cycling Sheffield Giant won with 2:22.3.

07/10/17 VTTA (East Anglia)/Leo RC ’30’

Steve Irwin was 3rd, 1st veteran and 3rd veteran on standard with 56:52 (+24:17), setting a new VTTA national age record in the Veteran Time Trials Association (East Anglia)/ Leo RC 30 mile Time Trial on Saturday October 7th on the E2/30C Fulbourne-Red Lodge course on the A11 and A14 either side of Newmarket. Matt Smith of Team Bottrill won with 56:04 and Kevin Tye of VeloRefined.com Aerosmiths was fastest Veteran on Standard with 58:19 (+25:05).

30/09/17 Warrington RC 2-up ’25’

Jan Scotchford and Paul Jennings of Lyme RC recorded 1:06:59 in the Warrington RC 2-up 25 mile Time Trial on Saturday September 30th. Road works had caused a course change to the J4/8 Byley-Rudheath-Middlewich-Byley course in Cheshire. Jonathon Wears and Simon Beldon of SSLL RT won with 51:33.

24/09/17  NLTTA Combined Clubs ’25’ (Club Championship)

Steve Irwin won the Club championship and was 2nd overall and Sue Cheetham was women’s champion in the North Lancs Time Trial Association 25 mile event on Sunday September 24th on the L2528 2-lap Barton-Garstang-Wilson House-St Michael’s-Kirkland Bridge course. David Allonby of Springfield Financial was fastest in 52:17. NLRC times….

23/09/17 Stretford Wheelers ’25’

Jan Scotchford was 1st veteran woman on standard with 1:08:29 (+5:12) in the Stretford Wheelers 25 mile Time Trial on Saturday September 23rd. Road works had caused a course change to the J4/8 Byley-Rudheath-Middlewich-Byley course in Cheshire. David Crawley of Velotik RT won with 51:34.

17/09/17  Springfield Financial ’10’

NLRC won the team prize and Steve Irwin was 3rd in the Spingfield Financial 10 mile Time Trial on Sunday September 17th on the L1015 Levens course. Phil Williams of Liverpool Pheonix CC (Aintree) won in 18:49. NLRC times….

Simon Diggins recorded a new personal best time of 21:41 in the Team Swift 10 mile Time Trial on Saturday September 16th on the V718 South Cave-North Ferriby course near Hull. Craig Twigg of Speedhub was fastest with 19:20.

10/09/17  Port Talbot Wheelers ’25’

There was steady rain and strong winds for the Port Talbot Wheelers 25 mile Time Trial on Sunday September 10th on the R25/3H Rhigos-Aberdulais-Glyn Neath course in South Wales. Hamish Bond of AeroCoach won in 45:51. NLRC times….

03/09/17  Cleveland Coureurs/VTTA (North) ’25’

Shaun McHugh recorded 57:32 in the Cleveland Coureurs/ VTTA (North) 25 mile Time Trial on Sunday September 3rd on the T252/3 Crathorne-Knayton course in North Yorkshire. Steve Ayres of Bronte Wheelers won  with 50:45.

03/09/17  Seacroft Wheelers ’25’

Simon Diggins recorded 1:05:40 in the Seacroft Wheelers 25 mile Time Trial on Sunday September 3rd on the V236/1 2-lap Topcliffe-South Kilvington course in North Yorkshire. Jonathan Wears of SSLL RT won  with 53:04.

03/09/17  RTTC National ’10’ Championship

Dave Hargreaves won the G (age 70-74) medal and the V70 prize in the Road Time Trails Council 10 mile National Championship on Sunday September 3rd on the L1021 course in Cumbria on the A66 turning at Cockermouth roundabout. Haley Simmonds of Team WNT Pro Cycling won the women’s event in 20:57 and Dan Bigham of Brother NRG Wattshop won the men’s event in 19:01. NLRC times….

Aidan Holgate recorded 1:59:11 (his first ride 50 and thus a PB) in the Chester RC 50 mile Time Trial on Sunday September 3rd on the D50/3R Prees-Market Drayton-Shawbirch-Prees course in Shropshire. Phil Murphy of Total Tri Training won  with 1:53:49.

02/09/17  VTTA (Yorkshire) ’10’

Dave Hargreaves was 6th on standard and both he and Shaun McHugh recorded personal best times in the Veteran Time Trials Association (Yorkshire) 10 mile on Saturday September 2nd on the V718 South Cave-North Ferriby course near Hull. In warm conditions with a light southerly wind Ron Hallam of South Pennine RC was fastest on standard with 24:45 (+9:35) and James Rix of Crawley Wheelers was fastest with 17:47. NLRC times….

Aidan Holgate retained the NLRC Hill Climb Championship and Hazel Matthews won her first Women’s Championship on the evening of Wednesday August 16th at Close Brow, Rishton.

13/08/17  Darlington CC/VTTA (North) ’50’

Michael Cox recorded 2:19:51 (+14:39) in the Darlington CC/VTTA (North) 50 mile Time Trial on Sunday August 13th on the T502/3 2-lap Crathorne-Knayton course on the A19 in North Yorkshire. Phil Graves of Nopinz won with 1:39:37.

13/08/17  Rhos on Sea ’10’

Dave Hargreaves was 2nd veteran on standard (but awarded 1st due to the one-rider-one-prize rule) with 22:16 (+6:48) in the Rhos on Sea 10 mile Time Trial on Sunday August 13th on the D10/15 St Asaph-Abergele course on the A55 near Rhyl. David Crawley of Velotik RT won and was 1st Veteran on standard with 18:59 (+7:05).

Sue Cheetham beat the hour for the first time with 59:32 in the Belper BC Women’s 25 mile Time Trial on Saturday July 22nd on the A25/11 Etwall-Uttoxeter course in Staffordshire/Derbyshire.  Alice Lethbridge of Drag2zero won with 51:47.

16/07/17  Border City Wheelers ’25’ NLTTA Championship

Steve Irwin was 2nd with 53:36 in the NLTTA 25 mile Time Trial Championship organised by Border City Wheelers on Sunday July 16th on the L259 2-lap Calthwaite course. Tom Rigby of Springfield Financial RT won with 52:36 to become the champion.

15/07/17  Warrington RC ’10’

Jan Scotchford recorded 27:57 in the Warrington RC 10 mile Time Trial on Saturday July 15th on the J2/3  Twemlow Lane-Chelford roundabout course in Cheshire. The event was intended to be a 25 but was changed to a 10. David Crawley of Velotik RT won with 20:47.

09/07/17  RTTC  ‘100’ Championship

Harry Haseley recorded 5:01:47 to win the H (75-79) age group in the RTTC 100 mile Time Trial Championship (organised by Hounslow & District Wheelers) on Sunday July 9th on the 5-lap H100/88B course on the Cawton-Coxbridge section of the A31 in Hampshire. Kieron Davies of Drag2Zero won in 3:23:48.

08/07/17  VTTA ’25’ Championship

The men’s event was abandoned following an accident involving a competitor in the Veteran Time Trials Association 25 mile Championship (organised by VTTA (East Anglia)) on Saturday July 8th on the E2/25 Newmarket-4 Went Ways course in Cambridgeshire/Suffolk. Dave Hargreaves had the best plus of the male finishers, Browen Ewing was best on standard of all those who finished with 53:57 (+19:44) winning the women’s championship and David Proctor of Velovelocity was fastest of the finishers with 50:03. The injured rider had broken his collar bone, shoulder and ribs but didn’t sustain life threatening injuries. NLRC times….

Rod Goodfellow recorded 1:11:55 in the Matlock CC 25 mile Time Trial on Sunday June 25th on the A25/12 course on the A6 between Bakewell and Matlock in the Peak District. Leon Wright of Race Hub won with 53:19.

25/06/17  Manchester Wheelers Hilly ‘20.5’ (Lakes & Lancs Spoco)

Jan Scotchford recorded 1:13:05 in the Manchester Wheelers Hilly 20.5 mile Time Trial on Sunday June 25th on the J8/25 Warslow-Longnor-Black Brook-Onecote course in the Peak District. Olympic gold medal winning New Zealand rower Hamish Bond of Aerocoach won with 47:31.

Dave Hargreaves recorded 4:21:20 (+1:07:53) to win the bronze medal in the VTTA National Championship incorporated into the classic Anfield BC 100 mile Time Trial on Spring Bank Holiday Monday May 29th on the D100/2A Shawbury based course in Shropshire. On a drizzly day Adam Duggleby of Vive le Velo was fastest in a new course record of 3:31:08. Richard Bideau of Pendle Forrest CC was VTTA champion with 3:38:40 (+1:13:52).
