For the purpose of BAR speed calculations, the “average” speed is deemed to be the average of the speeds recorded in the individual events, rather than the true average calculated by dividing the total distance by the total time

Whitehead Trophy (2006 onwards) Awarded to the fastest rider over two 10 mile and two 25 mile events. All qualifying events to be held on ‘L’ courses.

Short BAR Awarded to the rider with the fastest average speed over the three distances of 25 miles, 50 miles and 100 miles. All qualifying events to be held on ‘L’ courses or any events nominated by the committee when no L course event is available.

Long BAR (Best All-Rounder) Awarded to the rider with the fastest average speed over 50 miles, 100 miles and 12 hours. The 50 and 100 miles to be completed on ‘L’ courses or any events nominated by the committee when no L course event is available. The 12 hour may be ridden on Manchester courses or Liverpool courses.

Women’s BAR (Best All-Rounder) Awarded to the women rider with the fastest average speed over the three distances of 10 miles, 25 miles and 50 miles. All qualifying events to be held on ‘L’ courses or any events nominated by the committee when no L course event is available.

Junior BAR (Best All-Rounder) Awarded to the junior rider with the fastest average speed over two times 10 miles and two times 25 miles. All qualifying events to be held on ‘L’ courses.
