12/05/19 Dumfries CC Circuit of Loch Ken ‘26.3’ (Sigma Sports Classic series No. 4)
Dave Hargreaves was fastest in the Veteran Target Time category with 1:06:09 (+16:01) in the 26.3 mile Dumfries CC Time Trial on Sunday May 12th on the WS25/01 Castle Douglas-New Galloway-Mossdale Circuit of Loch Ken course in Dumfries and Galloway. This was Dave’s fourth win in the series this year resulting in Dave winning the Veteran Target Time category of the 2019 series overall (best 4 points scores out of 6 events), Douglas Watson of GTR – Return to Life was fastest veteran with 54:52, Kyle Gordon, of RT23 was fastest overall with 54:48 and Katie Archibald, Team HUUB was fastest woman with 1:02:44.
12/05/19 Border City Wheelers ’29’ (Lakes & Lancs Spoco)
Jan Scotchford was 2nd female with 1:29:15 in the Border City Wheelers 29 mile Time Trial on Sunday May 12th on the L291 Dalston-Goose Green-Street-Hesket Newmarket-Sour Nook-Gooose Green-Dalston course in Cumbria. Matt Moorhouse, Preston CC won with 1:08:33 and Anna Turvey, DRAG2ZERO was fastest woman in 1:15:44.

11/05/09 South Pennine RC (Women & Juniors) ’25’
Sue Cheetham was fastest veteran and 3rd fastest woman with 1:02:03 in the South Pennine RC 25 mile Time Trial on Saturday May 11th on the A25/11 Etwall-Uttoxeter course. Junior male George Elliot, Innovation Racing was fastest with 50:42 and Sarah Grant of Pro Vision Cycle Clothing was fastest woman with 56:58.
09/05/19 Blackburn & District CTC 2-up Team Time Trial ’10’
Austin Foy teamed up with Shaun McHugh (now of Transition RT) to win the Composite team prize with 22:38 in the Blackburn & District CTC 10 mile 2-up Team Time Trial on Thursday May 9th on the L101 Gastang-Hampson Green course on the A6. Stephen Feeney and Tony Greenhalgh of Team Cronomaster were fastest team with 20:26.
06/05/19 Kent Valley RC Shap Hill Climb (Lakes & Lancs Spoco)
It was fine and reasonably warm at the start in Kendal but cold and wet at Shap summit for the 9.1 mile Shap Hill climb on Bank Holiday Monday May 6th on the L871 A6 course. Jan Scotchford recorded 2:25:00 in unseasonally cold conditions in the Derwentside CC 40 mile hilly Time Trial on Sunday May 5th on the M40 Allenhead Town-Langley-Alston-Cowshill-Allendale Town course in the northern Pennines. Matt Moorhouse of Preston CC won with 1:44:36 and Anna Turvey of DRAG2ZERO was fastest woman in 2:00:08.

19/04/19 Buxton CC/Sett Valley Cycles Mountain TT ‘22’ (Sigma Sports Classic series no. 3)
Dave Hargreaves won the Veteran Target Time category, with a time of 1:07:17 (+2:14), in the 22 mile Buxton CC/Sett Valley Cycles Mountain Time Trial on Good Friday April 19th on the 2-lap J8/3 Longnor-Travellers Rest-Axe Edge-Royal Cottage-Longnor course. Scott Walker of Team Bottrill was fastest Veteran with 59:12, Joscelin Lowden of The Independent Traveller was fastest woman with 1:00:24 and John Archibold of Ribble Pro Cycling was fastest in the men’s 3-lap 33 mile event with a new course record of 1:17:09.

Jan Scotchford recorded 1:23:41 in the Kent Valley RC Circuit of Wild Boar Fell on Sunday April 14th on the L307 Sedbergh-Garsdale Head-Pendragon Castle-A683-Sedbergh course. Richard Bideau of Pendle Forest CC won with 59:45. Rebecca Rimmington of Team Merlin was fastest woman with 1:12:34.
13/04/19 BDCA (women) ‘25’
Sue Cheetham finished 6th with a time of 1:02:53 in the Burton & District CA 25 mile Time Trial on Saturday April 13th on the A25/11 Etwall-Uttoxeter course on the A50 in Staffordshire. Keri Parton of Pro Vision Cycle Clothing won with 58:18.
10/04/19 VTTA (North Lancs & Lakes) ’25’
North Lancs RC won the Team prize (on standard) and Dave Hargreaves was first on Standard in the VTTA (North Lancs and Lakes 25 mile Time Trial on Wednesday April 10th on the 2-lap L2521A Winmarleigh-Cockerham-Stakekepool course. Dave Hargreaves won the Veteran Target Time category with a time of 1:53:32 (+3:24) in the 37 mile Beacon RCC Little Mountain Time Trial on Sunday April 7th on the K22/37 Shelsley Walsh-Stanford Bridge-Bromyard Downs-Knightwick-Martley-Holt Heath-Great Whitley-Stanford Bridge-Shelsley Walsh course in Worcestershire. Danny Axford of Arctic RT was fastest veteran with 1:34:51 and Phil Williams of Liverpool Phoenix CC (Aintree) won the men’s event with 1:29:44. Jan Scotchford recorded a time of 46:03 in the Border City Wheelers 17 mile Time Trial on Sun March 31st on a shortened (due to road works) version of the L2512 in this case from High Hesket to Low Dyke mainly on the A6 south of Carlisle. Richard Bideau of Pendle Forest CC won in 33:04.

24/03/19 Wessex RC ’24’ (Sigma Sports Classic Series No. 1)
Dave Hargreaves was 1st in the Veteran Target Time category of the Wessex RC 24 mile hilly Time Trial (event 1 in the Sigma Sports Classic Series) on Sunday March 24th on the P427 course at Wimbourne in Dorset. Dave recorded a time of 1:01:00 in mild, breezy conditions, giving him a plus of 14:51 faster than his age-based Target Time. Jonathan Gates, RAF CA, was fastest Vet with 51:44 and Adam Wilde of GS Metro was fastest espoir/Senior with 49:44. Kelly Murphy, Storey Racing, was fastest woman with 58:04.

It was cold (~6°C), with a blustery SW wind and light rain at the Clitheroe end of the course for the North Lancs Road Club 30 mile hilly Time trial on the L309 A59-based Clitheroe-A56 roundabout-Clitheroe course. Jan Scotchford was second woman, just edging Sue Cheetham into 3rd by a single second and Dave Hargreaves was fastest V70+ (age 70+). Richard Bideau of Pendle Forest CC and Fraser Martin (Saint Piran) tied for 1st place with 23:42 in the Rossendale RC 10.3 mile hilly Time Trial on Saturday February 23 rd on the L211 course at Bolton by Bowland. Jan Scotchford was fastest woman and Dave Hargreaves was fastest V70+ (age 70+). Both of us recorded course PBs on what was a very good Spring like day with a gentle tail wind up the climbs. All Club events, including our tens series, are dependent on the voluntary assistance of our members and they could not continue without such help. We ask each member to assist at a minimum of one ’10’ or an open event. If you wish to offer your services please ring Harry Haseley on 01254 885611 in good time so that he can complete his rota.
